WebSite-Watcher 2025 (25.0)
WebSite-Watcher is a powerful yet simple website-monitoring tool, perfectly suited to the beginner and advanced user alike. If you can work with an email client, you can even work with WebSite-Watcher! The software places you in complete control over what gets checked, when it gets checked, and even how you are notified.
WebSite-Watcher main features:
- Monitor web pages
- Monitor password protected pages
- Monitor forums for new postings and replies
- Monitor PDF/Word/Excel documents
- Monitor binary files
- Monitor local files
- Monitor RSS feeds, Newsgroups and local files
- Highlight changes in a page
- Powerful filter system to ignore unwanted content
- Many more features to stay up-to-date.
Lots of other features:
- Additional actions when updates are detected - For example to play an alternative sound, send emails or open the changed page with another program. You configure the software to work the way you want.
- Powerful Plugin system - Bookmark checks can be enhanced with the integrated Plugin system. For example to monitor a page for a specific price and alert an update only if the price is less than USD 100. Plugins must be written in the programming language Basic. WebSite-Watcher contains an integrated development system, no other tools are required.
- Work with checked pages (Searches, Reports, etc.) - All monitored pages are saved to your hard drive. This allows you to quickly and simply open and view the monitored pages, search text in downloaded files and make reports... all without even having to be online.
- Archive pages permanently - Keep the information you need by archiving pages with our tool Local Website Archive. This can be done automatically via the bookmark properties or manually on demand.
- Synchronize bookmark files - Synchronize bookmarks between computers with the synchronize functionality.
- Backup and Restore - The integrated Backup/Restore feature allows you to backup and restore your settings, bookmarks and downloaded files into/from a zip archive.
WebSite-Watcher 2025 (25.0) changelog:
- New bookmark action "Scraper": The Scraper action will extract content and structured data from a monitored page and save it to a file on your hard disk. Output formats are XML, CSV, or a tab-delimited file. (This feature is only available in the Business Edition.)
- All checks with the internal check technology or downloads are now executed in separate processes. Hanging downloads or winsock operations will no longer cause side effects in the main application. This improves stability, especially when WebSite-Watcher is running 24/7.
- Tons of internal code reviews, improvements, and performance optimizations. Especially when processing larger pages, which can now be multiple times faster.
- Browser-Engine: Text-View. This engine displays the page content in a very simplified text version. It does not load the overhead of the Chromium browser and uses fewer resources and memory. Can be used if you run WebSite-Watcher 24/7 on a server and do not use the internal browser to read bookmarks. (Main menu > Tools > Browser-Engine.)
- New command line option: /NoBrowser - Does not load the Chromium browser and uses an alternative, lightweight text view instead. Recommended if you are only starting WebSite-Watcher to perform a check run.
- Check technology Browser/Chromium and Browser/Edge: New option "Simulate user interaction." You can activate this option if a page requires user interaction (e.g., keyboard input or mouse movements) to load correctly. Only activate this option if necessary, as the page will take longer to load in this case.
- Bookmark action "Add to LWA": New option "Delete pages when bookmark is deleted." If this option is activated and you delete a bookmark in WSW, all archived pages of this bookmark are also automatically deleted in LWA.
- Chromium Macros improved: More steps can be recorded.
- Edge Macros improved: More steps can be recorded.
- Plugins: The function "ExecuteAndWait" introduces a maximum timeout of 300 seconds (5 minutes). If the executed program is not finished after 300 seconds, the result of this function is -1, and the execution of the plugin continues. However, the specified program continues to run and is not terminated by WebSite-Watcher.
- Plugins: Aborting a check run will also immediately abort the function "ExecuteAndWait" (however, the program will continue to run).
- Plugins: The function "DeleteHtmlTags" returns much better results (e.g., it also removes style definitions, decodes encoded characters, etc.).
- Bookmark function "Merge pages" improved (could not find new pages under certain circumstances).
- New plugin functions: Beep, ReplaceChar.
- Chromium/Browser: Checking bookmarks with frames and IFRAMES improved.
- Edge/Browser: Checking bookmarks with frames and IFRAMES improved.
- Improved checking of PDF files with the technology "Browser: Edge."
- The embedded Chromium browser uses a new API layer that required lots of internal changes. This new version offers better compatibility with several websites.
- Some memory leaks fixed.
- Many minor improvements and fixes.
