The application comes with a custom-made interface, although features are wrapped around a classic window frame. The overall feel is pretty intuitive, but it can be rather frustrating to work with small dials and sliders. When done, the application can easily be minimized to the taskbar, and not the tray area.
There are a couple of modes to set the alarm timer. This means that the alarm can ring after a given amount of time, or when the clock strikes the exact configured hour. You get to use a couple of sliders in order to set the desired hour and minute, regardless of the mode you choose.
The configured time is displayed in one section, while the other shows the remaining time. The application comes with a preset audio alert. It can be changed, but the source file needs to be under the WAV format, and placed in the source folder, replacing the original audio file.
All in all, KP Timer Serial is a pretty straightforward alarm clock for your desktop. It delivers an intuitive set of features, with a rather awkward mode of changing the audio alert. It’s mostly useful as a one-time alarm, which can either be triggered after and amount of time, or at an exact hour.
