WinRAR 7.11 Beta 1
WinRAR is an archiving utility that completely supports RAR and ZIP archives and is able to unpack CAB, ARJ, LZH, TAR, GZ, UUE, BZ2, JAR, ISO, 7Z, Z archives. It consistently makes smaller archives than the competition, saving disk space and transmission costs. WinRAR offers you the benefit of industry strength archive encryption using AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) with a key of 128 bits. It supports files and archives up to 8,589 billion gigabytes in size. It also offers the ability to create self extracting and multi volume archives. With recovery record and recovery volumes, you can reconstruct even physically damaged archives.
WinRAR 7.11 highlights:
- New Behavior for Multiple Archives in Disk Root: When applying the "Add to archive..." Explorer context menu command to multiple archives in the disk root (e.g., d:\arc1.rar and d:\arc2.rar), WinRAR now proposes a new default name (arc1_rar.rar) for the new archive instead of overwriting the existing one, which was the case in the previous version.
Bug Fixes:
- Solid Archive Update Issue: Fixed an issue where WinRAR 7.10 failed to update solid archives containing a folder record before a file record, causing checksum errors and aborting the process. The update now preserves the original position of such folders without moving them to the end of the archive.
- CAB Extraction Overwrite Problem: Fixed an issue where files extracted from a CAB archive would overwrite existing files without truncating the existing file data, leading to leftover data if the existing file was larger.
- SFX Module Issue: Resolved an issue where the SFX module from the "Advanced SFX options" dialog was applied without considering the archive format, which could cause a mismatch if the archive format changed after selecting the profile.
- Byte Units in Split Archive Dialog: Fixed a problem where choosing a value in bytes from the drop-down list in the "Split to volumes, size" field didn't automatically set the units to bytes.
- SFX "TextDone" Command Display Issue: Fixed an issue where the completion message from the SFX "TextDone" command was sometimes displayed behind other windows when used with the "Silent" and "TempMode" commands.
