From time to time I check my midi file archive for errors in files. I used my utility "midi2txt -error" to get a list errors and warnings to a file. This midi2txt only worked for one file and needed therefore restart for all files in the directories. Since midi2txt is not quick enough and the program start per file also is slow, the process takes very long time. So I tried to optimize the error detection within a new program, this program.
At least on PC it can process a full directory of files and subdirectories at once (without restart). Error detection now is quick enough, and if in a hurry the quick checking also finds the most important errors. This quick option surely does not check the notes, controls, pauses etc. it has only time to check the midi header (MThd) and the track headers (MTrk). If a file is cut by some transfer (e.g. network) then the quick check realizes this.
