Once fired up, IconMP3 creates an icon into the systray and facilitates quick access to settings via the right-click menu.
The main window has a simple and elegant look, where you can add as many MP3, WAV and WMA audio tracks as you want by resorting to the file browser. If supported, the drag-and-drop mechanism was not operational in our tests.
The track name and artist of each file are displayed. It's possible to pause, resume and stop the current track, play the next or previous one in the playlist, save the playlist to .mpc format to later open it using the same program, as well as toggle randomization and repeating mode.
The volume level can be adjusted without having to tweak the system volume, and any position of the song can be sought by moving a slider.
Unfortunately, IconMP3 Serial hasn't received updates for a long time and can no longer be purchased. However, you can still download a copy from Softpedia to use the trial or if you have a user name and serial number for registration.
It showed an error on several occasions while we attempted to play songs. Other than that, system resources consumption was low. All in all, IconMP3 comes bundled with easy-to-understand tools for playing audio files in a user-friendly environment, but it isn't stable on later Windows versions.
