Installing this program isn't necessary since you can unzip the downloaded archive and double-click the .exe to reach the main app window immediately. Worth noting is that your library and settings are remembered on exit.
A demo artist is visible in the library to demonstrate how the utility works. To personalize it, you just have to add folders to the collection while keeping in mind that searches made by Discographer are based on the folder names.
On search completion, you can check out information about each track, including year of release and release type (e.g. single, compilation, album). For additional details, you can click the search icon next to the release type to open a Google search page with the track's name in your default web browser.
As far as other options provided by Discographer Serial are concerned, you can sort the releases by album, singles and EPs, compilation or "Other", perform new scans with the click of a button, and toggle fullscreen mode.
Although this should be obvious by now, the program is not a download manager because it cannot fetch audio tracks from the Internet. It only provides an information service for artists and songs.
Unfortunately, Discographer cannot auto-monitor the web to notify you of new songs as soon as they are released. Nevertheless, it comes in handy for music lovers.
