When it comes to the interface, RedP takes an elegant and minimal approach, giving you the possibility to load songs from separate files or entire folders. Keyboard shortcuts are available for opening files (Ctrl+O) and selecting folders (Ctrl+Shift+O) using the built-in file explorer. Items can also be dragged and dropped into the main window.
Selecting a folder means preparing all containing audio tracks for playback. A playlist is automatically created when this happens but it's not visible anywhere throughout the graphical interface.
Instead, you can use navigation controls to play the previous or next track. On the downside, it's not possible to pick a song you would like to listen to without going through the entire playlist in order.
If the tracks have artwork, the images are automatically shown in the panel. Additionally, you can pause and resume the current song as well as seek a position by moving a slider. Besides this, there's nothing more that can be added about RedP Serial.
The software project is new, which means that there's plenty of room for new features in future updates. Unsurprisingly, the tool worked without error on Windows 10 in our tests, using little system resources.
All aspects considered, RedP should please users interested in a minimalistic and elegant audio player. However, there's definitely room for more.
